The discovery
My passion for coding started when I was 17 years old. Before that, I was more interested in graphic design. During the COVID pandemic, I spent most of my days recreating what people did on YouTube. I think that's where I developed my design skills. Later, I discovered an unexplained passion for coding. At first, I didn't quite understand what I was doing, so I stopped.
The learning journey
It wasn't until my first year of university that I restarted coding. I created an e-learning website to learn JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and PHP after completing Pierre Giraud's comprehensive HTML and CSS course. The site was built with HTML and CSS, no backend. It wasn't impressive, but the UI was beautiful, and it helped me move forward.Choosing the tech
I learned various technologies like PHP (which I enjoyed), Java, and Angular (which I didn't appreciate much). Some technologies were mandatory for school, so I had no choice. When I was still learning HTML and CSS, my mentor (who wasn't my mentor at the time) told me, "You're good with HTML and CSS. Let's start with Node.js."I thought, "But I'm not proficient in vanilla yet," but I decided to visit him, and boom! I saw amazing things. The importance of design
As a web developer, it's essential to have good design skills, as design reflects the features and vision you wish bring to your application. Unfortunately, many developers overlook this crucial aspect.
